Do you want to get more involved with Dance Soc?
Freshers, this is YOUR CHANCE!
The UCLU Dance Soc Committee is looking for an enthusiastic Fresher to join us!!! This is a special role for freshers to have them represented on the committee!
If you're not a fresher/would not like to run, we still encourage as many members as possible to come since you should have your say! Also, there will be FREE FOOD, so why not?! :P
Job scope as 1st Year Rep:
This is an exciting role for first year to really get a full taste of how Dance Society works. The 1st Year Rep is a point of contact for freshers. The position is designed so that you can relay any concerns or requests that freshers have to the committee and attend committee meetings. In addition to this, the freshers' rep will help with other aspects of Dance Society including the Freshers' Show production (being part of the production team) and helping with projects such as the Volunteering project, DanceIt! and the DanceSnap Photography Project. This sounds like a lot but mainly, the Freshers' rep’s role is to help freshers integrate well with the society.
If you are interested, please send you name, contact details to
Hope to see you there (whether you're running or not!!)

The Annual General Meeting is a time where we choose who keeps the society running and the cogs turning for 2015/2016. It's SO important we have a good turn out - whoever is elected directly affects YOU as a member so please come and have your votes!
In case you're interested, here are the roles available:
- Vice President

- Publicity Officer
- Communications Officer
- Competitions Co-ordinator
- Competition Producer

If successful, everyone will be required to attend weekly committee meetings to discuss the happenings with the society and make it better and better! You'll also have to extend your duties outside your role a little when it comes to helping out with general things. 1. WORKSHOPS Don't forget we have TWO upcoming workshops this week!
24th January - Alumni Workshop Series - Ken
https://www . facebook . com/events/503362276498076/
Between 3-4:45pm in the CSC Conference Room, 2nd floor Bloomsury Building, Ken will be teaching a lyrical hip hop session! He's currently studying (and dancing) in the US so come down and have fun! This workshop is FREE to all members.
26th January - Theatre Jazz Workshop - Christie Manning
https://www . facebook . com/events/859851224076235/
Come dance with us, 4-6pm in the Lewis Studio! Christie Lee Manning will be heading up a fun and jazzy workshop. This will cost £2 in the door to members (we have to cover our costs!) but it is SO WORTH IT! Christie is one of the UK's most versitile performers, working with artists such as Nelly Furtado and Michael Buble, this is not one to miss. Full biography and details on the FB event!
2. TRIPLE BILL SHOWCASE
This event began last year and was so much fun and raised lots for charity that we decided to do it again!
Come along to the UCLU Quad Marquee on the 7th February at 7:30pmfor a night packed full of performances from every element of our society.
We have ultimate beginner dancers who live to perform, our intermediate competition team, advanced performers, members of other UCLU societies who have been roped in to learn a dance (in less than three weeks!) and a guest spot from the winners of our volunteering project, Dance It! With Hampstead School. It's a night to raise money for Anthony Nolan, a charity dance society has continued to support, whilst having as much fun with as many people as possible. There's 20 dances and tickets only cost £4! Please put the date in your diaries and come along to support!
3. Dance It! Volunteering Project Mini Competition Performance
Speaking of our volunteering project with Hampstead School, we have a request from you! For the past 8 weeks, our volunteers from Dance Society have been working with kids from Hampstead School. We've been teaching them dance, and in the last 4 weeks have been helping them choreograph little routines that they'll be using in a Mini Competitoon to be held here at UCL.
The competition will be on Wednesday 4th February, 3:30-5pm in the Rehearsal Room (Bloomsbury Building) and everyone is welcome to support their hard work and help us decide who will be joining us in our Triple Bill Showcase!
See you all there!!
Dance Love, and as always message us with any questions!
